Local residents are organising a symbolic winter event on Saturday, 16 January, at Plaça del Mercat (C/ Tamarit), in accordance with all the health recommendations.
Because of the current pandemic, Sant Antoni’s festa major, or big annual festival, has been postponed to July. Even so, the neighbourhood’s local residents and associations have organised a symbolic winter event that will be taking place on Saturday, 16 January, from 10 am to 9 pm, at Plaça del Mercat (C/ Tamarit).
The day event will kick off at 11 am, when the Porca [pig], Espurna [spark] and other Sant Antoni figures are put up on display at the crossroads between C/ Tamarit and C/ Comte Borrell. There will also be a food-collection stall run by the NGO, De Veí a Veí.
The LGBTI Centre will have the privilege of opening the planned events, at 12 noon, with the Monterrosa concert. The group, made up by Rocío Saiz and Enrique F. Aparicio, will bring a good dose of activist pop to the event, with a repertoire that speaks of a generation’s experiences, the power of difference, identity and recreational activity.
Under the current health recommendations, the performance venue will be marked off and with a reduced audience capacity; if you wish to attend it you will have to fill in this registration form. By registering you will be able to enjoy the trivial and musical bingo organised by the Youth Assembly, from 1.30 pm on.
The activity will resume in the afternoon with a screening of Icíar Bollaín’s documentary También la lluvia / Even the Rain. To attend the screening you will also have to register for it in advance.
The symbolic holding of Sant Antoni’s big annual festival will end at 9 pm, with the light-up of nearby roof terraces.
