Trans visibility. The exhibition, which is on until 7 April, is a project from the Andalucia Trans - Sylvia Rivera Association (ATA) highlighting the experiences of thirteen trans role models.

To mark International Transgender Day of Visibility on 31 March, the Observatory against Homophobia (OCH) is bringing the LGBTI Centre an exhibition entitled “NuesTrans vidas importan”. This is a project promoted by the Andalucia Trans – Sylvia Rivera Association which aims to highlight trans life by debunking stereotypes and eliminating prejudices.

Thirteen illustrations and videos made by Izhan Alcántara (Er Reverte), the project’s creator, are used for examining the experiences of thirteen trans role models, individuals whose experiences help to break stereotypes over issues such as reproductive rights, difficulties finding work, life as a couple and acceptance from the family environment, among other realities.

The exhibition is an interactive work that encourages its visitors to take part in.  Every image, which depicts the profile of a different activist, includes a QR code that enables users to access the testimonial video where each participant reflects on their experiences in areas such as love, friendships, studies and childhood.

The LGBTI Centre is presenting “NuesTrans vidas importan” from 26 March to 7 April. It is open to the public on Mondays, from 4 pm to 8 pm, and from Tuesdays to Fridays, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Contribution to the existing debate on the passing of the Trans Act

The OCH has brought the LGBTI centre this exhibition to mark the debate that has been going on over the passing of the Trans Act, a text that includes recognition of trans people’s gender self-determination. During the presentation of the exhibition, this coming 30 March, from 6 pm to 7 pm, the Chair of the Observatory against Homophobia, Eugeni Rodríguez, will be talking to Mar Cambrollé, the Chair of ATA and the Trans Platform Federation. You can follow the dialogue through the Observatory against Homophobia’s YouTube channel.
