Safety and prevention. On Saturday, visitors can explore the Espai Bombers, and on Sunday, they can visit the Vall d’Hebron drill tower.

The festival returns for a new edition on the weekend of 25–26 October, giving visitors the chance to explore one of the Barcelona Fire Service’s most modern facilities, the drill tower at Parc de la Vall d’Hebron, as well as its most historically significant building, Espai Bombers on Carrer de Lleida, the former Poble-sec fire station.

The former Poble-sec Fire Station is the only historical station still intact in Barcelona. Built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition, it was a pioneering structure: the first station designed to meet all the requirements pertaining to its use and adapted to the service’s new needs.

Visitors can explore the station on Saturday without booking in advance, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm.

The Vall d’Hebron fire service drill tower is designed to the practical needs of firefighter training, while also helping to unify the complex in which it stands. Its vertical structure is visually linked to the fire station and the nearby market, and its materials blend in with the Sant Genís and Carmel neighbourhoods. The design also meets key requirements for durability, maintenance, impact resistance and ease of construction.

The goal of the 48H Open House BCN Architecture Festival is to promote reflection on what is important in architecture and what gives it value, and at the same time what is important for citizens and cultural users alike.

The drill tower can be visited this Sunday without booking in advance, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
