Bucheon opens a literary residency call for the 2024 edition
Authors, translators and graphic novelists can submit applications for this experience in South Korea until 21 October.
Bucheon City of Literature in South Korea has announced the opening of the call for applications for its 2024 literary residency, aimed at writers, poets, translators and graphic novelists from UNESCO’s creative cities. With the aim of fostering international exchange and artist mobility, the residency offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural environment of Bucheon, a city renowned for its literary and artistic wealth.
The residency will take place between November and December 2024, lasting approximately two months. During this time, residents will spend 80% of their time working on their personal projects and the remaining 20% participating in local cultural activities, designed in collaboration with the Bucheon office. These activities include literary events, community meetings and public presentations, allowing writers to interact directly with the Korean public.
The programme covers travel costs to and from Bucheon, accommodation, as well as personalised support to integrate into the cultural life of the city. In return, participants are expected to write a text inspired by the experience of living in Bucheon, which will be used for promotional purposes in the city.
Interested applicants must meet several requirements, such as having at least one published work and demonstrating an interest in Korean culture. In addition, you must have connections to a UNESCO City of Literature outside Korea and demonstrate proficiency in English or Korean. The deadline for submitting applications is 21 October 2024. Please complete this form.
