Barcelona, finalist in the Aslan Awards 2025 for the VIGIA project
The recognition was given during the gala for the Congress & Expo ASLAN 2025 in Madrid.
Barcelona City Council attended the gala for the Aslan Awards 2025, an event that brought together professionals from the technology sector and representatives from public institutions all over the state to recognise innovation and digitalisation projects. The event began with a speech by Ignasi Belda, Director General of AESIA, who remarked on the importance of artificial intelligence and digitalisation for modernising the public administration.
Barcelona City Council’s project VIGIA – Digitalisation of the cleaning and waste collection services was recognised as a finalist in the 17th Aslan Award Call for Public Administration Projects. The award highlighted innovation and backing for digitalisation in the management of urban services.
The winning project in the category “Smart Cities and Citizen Service” was from Palma, while Paiporta received a special mention. Barcelona City Council received a finalist’s diploma, recognising the city’s commitment to the modernisation and efficiency of public services.
VIGIA uses sensors, GPS systems and analysis tools in real time to improve the efficiency of the cleaning and waste collection service, guaranteeing control and facilitating decision-making based on data. This focus positions Barcelona as a leader in innovation and sustainability in the management of urban services.
Participation in these types of events strengthens Barcelona City Council’s position as a leader in digital transformation with the public administration, driving constant improvement in the management of urban services through technological innovation.
