Hyperautomation, transforming public services in Barcelona
Boost organisational efficiency and improve the quality of the services citizens receive.
The Municipal Institute of Information Technology took part in the summit Transformation with AI: enhancing the future with Agentic Automation, organised by the company UiPath, which specialises in robotic process automation solutions, and the technology consulting firm, ATOS, on 13 March in Madrid. The event brought together professionals from various public administrations who shared their experiences of hyperautomation and its impact on the modernisation of public services.
Barcelona, with the support of the IMI, offered a practical view based on the city’s progressive implementation of RPA technology in municipal processes. This approach, based on collaboration between departments, has made it possible to detect opportunities for improvement and free up time that would have been spent on repetitive tasks, moving teams towards more value added activities.
This person-centred transformation has helped to boost organisational efficiency and has improved the quality of the services citizens receive. Barcelona’s experience highlights the importance of introducing technology gradually, with specific training and a vision that is shared among the different agents involved.
The IMI is continuing to work to create a more agile, accessible and human administration, where technology plays a key role in building a smart, innovative city at the service of people.
