Sexual and gender diversity

Established in 2001, the Association of LGBTI Families (FLG) promotes the normalisation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex families in all spheres of society. Its goal is to help achieve full equality in the rights and duties of families and their children. The Association also provides assistance, information, training, empowerment, and mutual support among all members, enabling children to enjoy spaces of freedom and tools to help them see their family’s reality as a value in terms of dignity. The FLG also provides training in family diversity aimed at schools.

This Association was founded in 1994 by a group of mothers who wanted to understand their children’s reality better and to support them in the fight against discrimination. Since then, the organisation has implemented a wide-ranging programme of activities focused on awareness-raising, support and promotion aimed at families with gay, lesbian, bisexual, heterosexual and transsexual children. The Association also supports educational activities aimed at children, teenagers, workers and society in general in order to promote respect for diversity in sexual orientation and gender identity.

Founded in 1976, Casal Lambda is a non-profit association whose mission is to normalise homosexuality. The association provides LGBTI people with a place for meeting and advice. Among other activities, Casal Lambda performs important work in the field of social projection and organises regular awareness-raising initiatives aimed at different social stakeholders.

Established in 1994, the Gais Positius association pursues the mission of raising the profile and normalising seropositive gay people, both in society and general and among the LGBTI community.

To do so, the association promotes support, organises activities and provides services that contribute to improving the quality of life of seropositive homosexuals, their increasing social normalisation and non-discrimination of their rights.

Gais Positius was first mutual support association in Spain, and continues to be the only organisation in the entire State that is managed wholly by gay and bisexual men who live with HIV or Aids.

The Observatory Against Homophobia (Observatori contra l’Homofòbia) is engaged in designing and implementing a permanent system to monitor discrimination and homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, etc., in the different spheres where it may be found.

The facilities at the Observatory include a Care and Advisory Service for Victims, and a Complaints Office. The Observatory also provides training aimed at local authorities, schools and other organisations on such issues as the content of the law against homophobia, bullying, LGBTI rights, procedures for lodging complaints, affective and sexual diversity, etc. A team of experts also provides guidance in the fields of psychology, law, social education and sociology.

Ahora Dónde-Le Refuge is an association that helps young LGTBI people who suffer rejection from their families. To do so, it has a team of mediators who work to improve the housing situation. It also offers emotional, work and educational support by volunteers from the association.

In parallel, the entity is building a network of foster families for those young people (below rhe legal age) who urgently need a safe and respectful space. 

Created in 2019, Ahora Dónde is a founding member of the Fédération Européenne des Refuge network, with a presence in France, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland.
