0-99 Outdoor Play Area
The 0-99 Outdoor Play Area, located in the Gran Clariana clearing in Parc de les Glòries Catalanes, is part of the Plan for Play in Public Space, with a 2030 horizon, as well as the Barcelona Playable City strategy. The aim is to create community meeting places with shared activities accessible to children, adults, and older people, encouraging a spirit of fun among all city residents of all ages.
The initiative seeks to promote community by providing city residents with a variety of board games and free play activities for people of all ages, offering the opportunity to play outdoors on three days of the week (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
In terms of the target public, the play area is designed for people of all ages with an intergenerational, intercultural, and community perspective. The space includes a play area for young children and another for children aged 6 and over, as well as spaces for adolescents, young people, adults, and the elderly.
Likewise, the 0-99 Play Area offers more than 400 board games, from the great classics to the latest releases, traditional games, games from around the world, giant games, wooden games, construction games, skill games, and movement games. All of them are accessible, intercultura,l and co-educational.
In addition to the regular services offered by this space, other activities and events related to the world of games and themed parties are also held throughout the year. Tournaments and presentations of new games are held, and the space collaborates with the DADO board game festival.
The space also has a community focus, as it is offered to social, local/neighbourhood or city organisations, educational centres, summer camps, and the city's recreation centres and youth clubs.
Finally, the service takes a gender perspective into account in all the activities offered at the 0-99 Play Space, so that co-educational games are encouraged, gender roles are broken down when it comes to encouraging participation, communication is inclusive, signage throughout the facility does not reproduce gender roles and stereotypes, and the participation of feminist or co-educational organisations is encouraged.
