Amics UNESCO de Barcelona
Amics de la UNESCO de Barcelona is a non-profit organization with a 60-year history created with the aim of bringing together the maximum number of Catalan civil society to work in favor of the ideals promoted by UNESCO, such as human and peoples' rights, culture, and education..
This organization works in line with UNESCO's founding declaration to promote justice, freedom, and peace in the world. Amics UNESCO Barcelona (AUB) reinforces its commitment to the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals focused on culture and education. Its goal is to continue working for a society with less inequality, promoting equitable and well-distributed economic and social growth within institutions that promote peace, justice, and respect for universal rights.
Over the years, it has been awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi on June 1, 1992, for its dedication to global culture and especially Catalan culture. Similarly, on February 4, 2005, it was awarded the Medal of Honor of Barcelona, and on May 28, 2009, it became a Public Utility Entity.
