Participation in the III International Symposium: Care and Neglect in the Family Environment, organized by UIC (International University of Catalonia).
The III International Symposium on Care and Neglect in the Family Environment, organized by the Institute of Family Studies at the International University of Catalonia, was held. The chosen theme for this edition was "The Importance of Time in Care," which was approached from both an academic perspective and the perspective of best practices in time use.
During this symposium, the panel discussion on "Time, Care, and Health: Academic Research" took place. Dr. Tomás Cano, a researcher from the University of Frankfurt, and Dr. Marc Grau, from the IESF Joaquim Molins Figueras Chair, highlighted the importance of parental involvement in the care of their children to ensure better cognitive development.
Carme Carrera, as a program manager for time programs at the Barcelona City Council, participated in the panel discussion dedicated to "Time and Care in Cities: Best Practices from the Administration." She shared her expertise in the field of time and the actions carried out in the city through the Time Pact, a commitment to a healthier, more equal, and efficient organization of time, the NUST (New Social Uses of Time) Network, and its Mentoring service for knowledge exchange and advice on time measures. She also discussed the Barcelona Award for Innovative Companies in Conciliation and Time.
This panel also included the intervention of Lluís Coromines, a technician from the Office for Time Reform of the Government of Catalonia, who explained the significance of promoting a pioneering experience such as Time Reform and its evolution to the present. Ana Alonso and Montserrat Zamora, an economic promotion technician from the Argentona City Council and the third deputy mayor of the Esplugues de Llobregat City Council, respectively, presented the initiatives to promote Time Pacts in their municipalities related to advancing the opening hours of businesses and leisure activities with the aim of improving and humanizing the schedules of the citizens.
