» The Barcelona Time Agreement offers a new training pill aimed at understanding how to approach the organization of time with our sons and daughters in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Childhood and Adolescence

The organization of time in childhood is one of the main challenges of time policies. Elisa Stinus, PhD in public policy and expert in time use from the Barcelona Institute of Childhood and Adolescence, made us reflect on the use of time in childhood to move towards a higher quality time balance in the Barcelona Time Agreement 2022 Yearbook.

Also, recently aFFac, a member of the Pacte del Temps driving group, promoted a day in which they reflected on the School Day. However, what can families do to improve the use of children’s time? Do we know the practical tools that are offered to us from public policy? What can we do from our organizations?

From the Barcelona Time Agreement in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Childhood and Adolescence, we want to answer these questions through the training pill “Time and childhood”. This, on the one hand, aims to sensitize participants to the importance of time management and the implications it has for children; and on the other hand, to provide practical and conceptual tools to improve time management and reconciliation between work and family life.

The following points will be covered in this training pill:

  • Contextualization. The importance of the uses of time and the impacts on childhood and current concerns related to the subject will be addressed. Likewise, a brief analysis of the time policies focused on childhood will be made, highlighting the main policies and approaches that currently exist at the international, national and local level.
  • Identification of needs. At this point, the approach and focus of the pill will be working with the audience, opening the space to understand what are the main concerns, problems and also to share good practices that have been implemented in organizations.
  • Propositional dynamics. This is the central part of the training pill, where a practical guidance exercise will be carried out to identify specific individual, family and institutional measures to improve the use of time in childhood and promote work-family reconciliation.

The pill, which will take place next June 4 from 3pm to 4.30pm in online format, is open to all citizens and organizations that want to learn more about how to improve the use of time in childhood. The pill is free and in virtual format.
