The history of the city

We are aware of the importance of our family photographs, those that we keep in a multitude of places such as boxes, albums or bags and which also form part of our history. There is a component of personal memory in the family photographs, but in reality, they are also the history of the city because they reflect how we lived and worked, our connection with the environment, and the social and urban dynamic. 

There is a very important part of this family photographic memory among the photographic records of the municipal archives of the districts, the result of private donations. The family archive is the memory of the neighbourhood and if we consider the ten archives of the districts and the corresponding neighbourhoods, we could consider these archives to be the deposits of an essential part of the Barcelona memory, a selection of which is displayed in this section.
