A family from Sant Martí de Provençals
The amateur photographer Esteve Bosch i Ribas, born in 1909, enjoyed taking portraits of his family. His personal collection became an exceptional testimony to the everyday life in the neighbourhood of Sant Martí de Provençals, which is now El Clot, from the end of the 19th century to the mid-20th century. These images are a treasure trove because of the difficulty in investing in photographic material during the post-war period, but Esteve Bosch was able to do so thanks to the money he saved from his job as a lathe operator in the Pegaso factory. Of particular note among these photographs is the family farmhouse of Can Sagués, which disappeared with the opening of carrer de Mallorca road following the line of the Cerdà Plan. Photos of the family home on carrer de la Democràcia, the social life of the neighbourhood, the Esteve allotment on Gran Via with Bac de Roda and many others that form part of this collection are kept in the Municipal Archive of the District of Sant Martí.
