The Espai Bombers - Parc de la Prevenció is joining in again with this year’s 48h Open House festival over the weekend of 23 and 24 October, with visits for people to discover this museum space, the history of the firefighting corps and its links with the city. The 48h Open House is Barcelona’s main event for architecture, offering a weekend of open days at over 150 buildings of all types, shapes and sizes.
Iconic building
The former fire station in Poble-sec, now the Parc de la Prevenció, was designed by the architect Emilio Gutiérrez and built for the International Expo of 1929. The fire station was a pioneering building in that it was the first purpose-built facility, adapted to the new needs of the service.
The building is the oldest fire station in the Spanish state and the only historical facility of this type remaining in Barcelona.

If you wish to visit the former fire station in Poble-sec, come along to the open days on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October:
