Safety and prevention. The new CECOR will coordinate responses to all incidents reported via the 112 emergency phone service.

New premises for the Barcelona Operational Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOR). The agreement signed with the company Conren Tramway for the Tres Xemeneies site will provide new premises for the Joint Command Centre, currently located in C/ Lleida.

The centre will be housed in the Edifici Llac, a building providing a single location for all security and emergency services responding to incidents reported by members of the public using the 112 number: the City Police, the Barcelona Fire Service, the Mossos d’Esquadra police corps, the Medical Emergencies System (SEM) and the Barcelona Urgent Care and Social Emergencies Centre (CUESB).

All of these services will share space and response protocols, in line with the model for handling emergencies in Catalonia and based on cross-cutting action and cooperation.

The centre will be a modern facility with an advanced tech infrastructure to provide a swifter response to the public in any type of emergency. The centre will achieve this through a coordinated response from the different services in the city, managing incidents reported through 112 in a more efficient and comprehensive way.

The future centre will be fully equipped to handle potential risk situations, with crisis groups, forecasting for rain, snow and strong winds etc. It will also be able to respond to real risk situations or crises such as those reported through 112 and the mobilisation of resources to tackle accidents and other incidents.

In terms of security, the centre will have access to measures of the highest level to ensure its operability. The complex will have a perimeter fence with security cameras and movement sensors outside, and strict security filters inside.

The facility will be connected using the latest technology, with devices for monitoring national warning networks, situations of potential risk, incidents and emergencies in the sphere of civil protection.

Ultimately, this future centre is intended as a strategic management and coordination centre for emergencies, providing incident monitoring around the clock and offering a swifter and more efficient response for the public.
