The mission and spirit of the fire service even features on the new polo shirt which the members of the corps will wear.
Barcelona’s fire fighters start wearing a new polo shirt this week, produced according to the GOTS certification (ensuring social and environmental responsibility in the manufacturing process). The design of the new garment offers a more modern image than the previous one and aims to highlight the history and the main mission of the corps.
The shirt features the oldest existing shield of the Barcelona Fire Service, which can still be found in some other elements of the corps (fire engines, helmets and dress uniforms), the idea being to give it a greater presence. It also includes the year the corps was founded (1833), highlighting the history of the fire service, as well as the mission still shared with the original brigade.
The logo also features the words “Endeavour, protect, save”, in reference to the three areas the corps work in:
- To endeavour in the sphere of prevention, to guarantee safety in facilities, projects and current fire safety regulations.
- To protect civilians, anticipating at-risk groups and their management.
- To save assets, people and the environment, by reacting to fight fires, perform rescues and provide technical assistance.
