Safety and prevention. The game will be on sale as from 1 December and for each one purchased another will be gifted to children who are unable to buy one.

The Barcelona Fire Service, along with the Solidarity Firefighters, have produced the Joc de la Foca (Seal Game) to help children learn self-protection measures and tips on fire prevention while they play the board game.

The game is similar to the goose game but includes questions on fire prevention which players must answer correctly to progress from one square to another, move from seal to seal and win. The game is recommended for children from the age of 6.

The drawings in the squares and on the question cards are the work of the renowned illustrator Pilarín Bayés, who received the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Government of Catalonia in 1991 for her work. Bayés has published over 920 books, some of which have been translated into as many as eight languages, and collaborated in countless publications and exhibitions of original work, with her drawings applied to all types of support and formats.

The Barcelona Fire Service will be giving the game as a gift to all the schools which visit the Espai Bombers, an exhibition space allowing visitors to discover the history and trajectory of the corps, as well as those taking part in workshops in the Prevention Classroom.

The game will also be part of various solidarity campaigns involving the Solidarity Firefighters, for instance the Christmas campaign. It will be on sale from 1 December and for each game purchased another one will be freed up to be gifted to children unable to buy it.

The Joc de la Foca game is part of the Barcelona Fire Service’s commitment to fire prevention as a strategic area to guarantee better safety conditions for people, without overlooking children.

Disseminating basic measures to avoid fire in buildings and wooded areas, as well as self-protection measures, gives people tools so they are more prepared in risk situations and in a better position to prevent them.
