The coordination between tunnel staff and the different firefighter corps which might be involved is fundamental in these types of situations
Members of the Barcelona Fire Service took part in some training sessions organised at the Vallvidrera tunnels to get first-hand knowledge of the infrastructure and facilities and be better prepared in case they need to attend to any incidents there.
Six 90-minute sessions were held in all, providing explanations on how the tunnels operate in the case of an emergency, as well as the existing safety facilities, particularly relating to fire fighting and detection. To this end, participants visited the control room and the evacuation corridor at the tunnel.
Firefighters from the Catalan national corps at the Rubí-Sant Cugat fire station also took part in the training.
