Safety and prevention. The Barcelona Fire Service will be taking part in the open day, with visitors able to climb on board vehicles.

The Espai Bombers is holding an open day on Saturday, 24 December, offering the chance to take guided tours and discover the history of the building and the Barcelona Fire Service. The building was the first purpose-built fire station, constructed for the International Expo of 1929.

The city’s firefighting corps will be participating in the event, with visitors able to climb inside fire vehicles and discover the tools on board. Firefighters will also be showing visitors the equipment they use for each of their tasks. Guided tours will be conducted from 11 am to 2 pm, starting every half an hour: 11 am, 11.30 am, 12 noon, 12.30 pm, 1 pm, 1.30 pm and 2 pm.

The Espai Bombers is a permanent exhibition space housed in the former fire station in Poble-sec. It is the only remaining historical fire station in Barcelona, a place where people can learn about the history and work or the Barcelona Fire Service through its collection of exhibits. Notable pieces among these include the Delahaye fire truck, better known as the Genoveva and one of the most iconic vehicles used by the Barcelona Fire Service.

Besides the items on display, the museum also has interactive resources and audio-visuals allowing users to experience the sensations people might have during a fire.

All you need to do to enjoy the open day this Saturday is sign up in advance by sending an email to espaibombers@bcn.cat or calling 932 565 434 to indicate the number of visitors in your group and your chosen time.
