The Barcelona Fire Brigade’s training, dissemination and exhibition space is resuming its usual activities after the summer holidays and at the same times as always.
In addition to free tours in the museum, there will once again be a guided tour from 12 noon to 1 pm on the first Saturday of each month, where users can discover, as they tour the old Poble-sec fire station — today’s Espai Bombers —, the history of the fire brigade and of the building itself, which was the first fire station built as such to mark the International Expo of 1929.
The Espai Bombers will once again be holding family workshops every Sunday, from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, as of this September. It’s a treasure hunt that will give its participants access to several sources of information which they can use for completing their Quadern del bomber [fire-fighter logbook] and thereby take a deep look at the brigade and its history. What’s more, several dangerous cases will be offered which can only be successfully resolved by following the guidelines correctly.
Permanent exhibition
On the other hand, the permanent exhibition offers several of its collection’s items, plus audio-visual and interactive resources, to find out at first-hand about the fire-fighter profession, from its origins to the present day. Visitors will be able to get an inside look at the brigade’s mission through five themed blocks: vehicles; fire stations; communications; fire fighters and their equipment.
