Safety and prevention. The fair offers talks with prevention advice on fires in the home and self-protection for the elderly, public safety and safe mobility.

The two municipal corps have a joint stand to resolve queries from those attending the 25th Fair of the Elderly of Catalonia, one of the largest events in Europe aimed at senior citizens. Over 300 free activities are planned to promote active ageing.

The City Police and the Barcelona Fire Service will be offering three talks with prevention advice on fires in the home and self-protection for senior citizens, public safety and safe mobility. Two of the sessions are on Wednesday, 29, with the other on Friday, 31.

The fair will also have an accessible municipal stand with full information and all the latest on the main municipal services, resources and projects for the over-65s, all in one place. The stand is devoted to the culture of the elderly, with information on different municipal cultural projects.

In addition, the Advisory Council for the Elderly (CAGG) will be at the fair, offering information about its work and the activities it organises. One of the new features this year is the screening of the participatory short film A la bretxa, promoted and jointly created by the CAGG.

Held at La Farga de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, this year’s fair has over 300 activities based around culture, education, leisure, healthcare, new technologies, sport and food, with over eighty companies and organisations present. Admission is free, but some activities require registration in advance. For full information check the website for the fair.
