The vehicles are equipped to put our fires and carry out rescue and technical support tasks.
Barcelona City Council continues to improve the resources for the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS). To this end, four new vehicles were purchased in March to improve the management and quality of services: an advanced command post, a quartermaster’s vehicle and two heavy pump vehicles for the mountain area.
The last two are very important now that the hottest months are here, and when there are more forest fires (there have been five fires in Collserola since the end of May).
These 4×4 vehicles can get around using mountain tracks and have a water tank with a capacity of 2,850 litres, plus a foam tank of 150 litres. The pumping capacity of the vehicles is 3,000 litres per minute using low pressure and 400 litres per minute using high pressure.
