The process consists of a series of gatherings over a specific period to promote and discuss the different arguments from members of the public with municipal chiefs. The goal is to produce a proposal for the by-law on coexistence by the end of the year so that it can be approved by the Full Council.
The goal of this process is to amend the current by-law on coexistence, which is the regulation intended to preserve public space as a place of respectful behaviour and coexistence, where everybody can freely circulate and engage in activity, leisure and recreation with complete respect for the dignity and rights of others and the plurality of expression and different ways of life in Barcelona.
After eighteen years of the by-law currently in force and the transformation that the city has undergone in this period, a process is now needed to amend the regulations so that they match new citizen realities.
To this end, three meetings are planned, open to everybody with registration in advance:
- 12.2.2024: Centre Cívic Urgell, at 6.30 pm
- 21.2024: Centre Cultural La Farinera, at 6.30 pm
- 28.2024: Centre Cívic Pati Llimona, at 6.30 pm
The following topics will be addressed in the three sessions:
- Update to the current by-law
- Assessment of new conduct to include
- Assessment of conduct already addressed and to be amended
- Assessment of other aspects
Full information and the registration form can be on the website decidim.barcelona. The same platform will be available for people to give their input online until 4 March, with the results of the process to be announced at the end of April.
