With a faster new route, this year’s run starts and finishes in Passeig de Picasoo.

The latest details were presented today for the 24th edition of the Vueling Cursa de Bombers Barcelona 2023, which is again set to fill the city streets with thousands of runners, and members of the Barcelona Fire Service. The city is keenly awaiting this popular 10 km run, to be held on Sunday 22 October.

The presentation was given by David Escudé, the Councillor for Sports; Sebastià Massagué, head of the Barcelona Fire Service; Anna Viladot, head of communication with Vueling Airlines, and Roger Roca, the sports director for the event. Elite athletes who will be competing in the firefighters’ run were also present, such as Cristina Silva, the elite runner who finished third in the last two editions of the event.

The run gets under way in Pg. Picasso at 9 am, and follows a new route which is faster than the previous one, with a 360-degree circuit, doing away with the 200 metres in Av. Paral·lel, the only section of the route with elevation.

Given the high demand to take part, a thousand more number bibs have been added this year as registrations are up 15% compared to 2022. This reaffirms the event as one of the most popular runs in the city.

The Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona stands out again for its solidarity side. In this respect, the event is collaborating with ‘mi grano de arena’ [my grain of sand] so that runners can create fund-raising targets to help solidarity organisations working in the sphere of social inclusion, international cooperation, health, childhood and more. Over 20,000 euros has been raised so far through the eleven challenges promoted by Bombers Solidaris on the website migranodearena.org.
