The goal of the drills is to practice all the possible scenarios and to assess and improve the coordination and intervention of teams, plus the resources that need to be used in a fire of this type. In this case, five units from the Barcelona Fire Service were mobilised.
The exercise was held this morning at the building that houses the Pathalogical Anatomy Service at the Hospital Vall d’Hebron. The drill mobilised:
- 2 light fire engines
- 1 ladder
- 1 hospital ambulance
- 1 command vehicle
As is usual in these drills, the Barcelona Fire Service was scrambled after receiving a call from the hospital, in this case owing to smoke on one of the floors in the hospital. The usual resources for these cases were mobilised at this point and went to the location in question.
