The drill took place this morning at Marina Port Vell.
Organised by Port de Barcelona, the drill took place on board Lady Moura, a yacht 100 metres in length.
The mock scenario entailed firefighters putting out a fire which was started deliberately in the engine room, with medical attention provided to somebody who was in the upper deck and injured a limb in a fall.
Once alerted, the Barcelona Fire Service mobilised the following:
- 2 tanks for large fires
- 1 ambulance
- 1 ladder
- 1 rescue truck
- 1 boat
- 2 command vehicles
- 1 command centre
The Barcelona Fire Service regularly carries out different types of drills to ensure that all resources meet the required level of operability. These exercises also help identify points for improvement in operational activity and in communication between the different operators.
