This week Stockholm is playing host to the annual conferences organized by the Counter Terrorism Preparedness Network (CTPN), during which members of the Fire Brigade, the Guàrdia Urbana and municipal Prevention Services will be taking part. This network is designed to share international policies and exchange experiences between cities fighting against terrorism
The conference is being attended by the Director of Municipal Prevention Services, Àngels Vila, having taken part in the strategic board, a space for reflection on past and future initiatives.
She is also taking part in the CPTN High Level Conference, a round table on multi-agency preparedness and urban resilience with professionals from the public security forces from the international scene. Meanwhile, representatives from the Guàrdia Urbana [city police] and Fire Brigade will be taking part on Friday, 6 May, in a seminar on decision-taking in crisis contexts.
The CTPN has been promoting inter-city exchanges of practices relating to international terrorism, in the academic and professional arenas since 2018. The aim is to ensure a comprehensive and multidisciplinary response for combatting terrorism and dealing with crisis-management situations in an effective way and coordinated by public services.
The conference will feature work subgroups on the implementation of humanitarian assistance, security and threat analysis. The CTPN works with Europol, Interpol and the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Security Office.
