The summer campaign by the City Police will be in place until the middle of September, with a special operation to ensure mobility, harmony, respect and safety in the city during the months with the most intensive use of public space and the arrival of the good weather. The campaign sees the corps stepping up their usual work in coordination with Catalonia’s Mossos d’Esquadra police corps and the rest of municipal services.
The main areas of action are:
- Greater control of public space to prevent crime and behaviour that disrupts local people’s hours of rest of and causes the degradation of public space. There will also be action on reducing accidents and preventing sexual violence.
- Prevention and work to tackle recurrent offences by individuals.
- Coordination with the night-time mediation service, which becomes operative in June.
- Preventive patrol to detect forest fire risks in the Parc de Collserola.
- Action by the beach group, a specific body made up of 90 officers.
Other action is planned to the control of personal mobility vehicles for commercial use (rickshaws), premises open to the public and activity generating noise in the street.
