Here you will find the procedures managed by the GUB and other associations and institutions relating to safety, positive community life and mobility.
Special transport authorisation for the city's roads
Vehicles that are larger or weigh more than regulations allow require a special permit for travelling in the city.
You can start the procedure online if you are a transport enterprise and have a user name and password provided by the GUB.
Otherwise you can ask for these from the GUB's Special Transport Office.
Public-space occupation permits for scaffolding, cranes or heavy-item moving
A GUB permit is required for putting up cranes on public roads that can lift over fifteen tons and for parking vehicles transporting materials for assembling or dismantling scaffolding or which occupy part or all of the road or pavement with a vehicle for moving heavy items.
Where such work is expected to lead to serious traffic restrictions or even road closures, police offers will be required to intervene.
Before permits can be requested, applicants will have to self-assess and pay the rates for processing their public-road occupation applications (OVP)..
Recovering vehicles that have been impounded because of their excessive noise
The GUB can stop noisy vehicles and require their drivers to have them checked, so they do not exceed the permitted level of decibels. Drivers whose cars or motorcycles exceed these authorised levels of decibels risk having them immobilised and will not be able to recover them until the problem has been solved.
Recovering vehicles immobilised or sealed by the GUB

Recovering vehicles that have been impounded for lack of insurance cover
Recovering vehicles that have been taken to the municipal pound for lack of insurance cover, or because of accidents, police enquiries or legal proceedings etc., and which are available to the owner or in judicial custody.
Where the vehicle is in the custody of an official body, the appropriate procedures have to be taken with that body for the purposes of obtaining the order for removing the vehicle from the pound it is being kept in (consult the Recovering vehicles immobilised or sealed by the GUBprocedure).
Recovering vehicles removed by municipal tows
Recovering vehicles removed by municipal tows from public roads and left in municipal pounds. Consult the cases where they will not be subject to charges for staying in municipal pounds or charged for use of the tow service.
Permit for reserve parking for official and other vehicles
Permits which have to be applied for, for consulate, hospital and official- and charitable-body and other vehicles, to have a reserved parking place on a public road.

Permit for occupying public space for parking vehicles or other work elements
All vehicles, engine generators and other elements which, because of loading and unloading and other work, have to occupy a road surface for a maximum of one day, are required to have a permit for parking on a public road.
Before such permits can be requested applicants will have to self-assess and pay the rates for processing their public-road occupation applications (OVP).
