Campaign to control chauffeur-driven hire vehicles for up to nine passengers

10/04/2023 - 08:00 h

The City Police are conducting a specific operation from today until Sunday, 16 April.

The City Police campaign runs from today until Sunday and is intended to ensure the correct use of this type of vehicle, whether parked or in circulation, to combat fraud and unauthorised conduct.

The intention is to ensure compliance with the regulations for vehicles transporting up to nine passengers (including the driver). The type of conduct to be penalised relates to the parking and circulation of chauffeured vehicles, which are not allowed to park or circulate with the intention of attracting customers who have not booked their services in advance, plus the illegal offer of hire services. There will also be checks on permits and required documentation etc.

Checks and inspections will mainly focus on areas where there is a strong presence of these vehicles: train and bus stations, tourist hotspots, shopping areas and the city’s main streets.
