The City Police are running a campaign from today until Sunday, 21 April, stepping up measures to prevent infringements, fraud and unfair competition relating to licences for chauffeur-driven hire vehicles (VTC).
The campaign will pay particular attention to infringements such as:
- Providing service with driver’s licence withdrawn, or without the mandatory insurance policy.
- Driving with levels of alcohol in the blood higher than permitted, with drugs detected in the body and refusing to take the corresponding tests.
- Not having an up-to-date MOT, especially where this poses a serious and direct threat to people’s safety.
- Not having the mandatory price lists available.
- Failing to abide by the established rest times and days.
Checks and inspections will mainly focus on areas where there is a strong presence of these vehicles: train and bus stations, tourist hotspots, shopping areas and the city’s main streets.
