Barcelona to host an international congress on nightlife

Safety and prevention. Debates include sessions on fire prevention and combating sexual violence on nightlife premises.

The Third Deputy Mayor for Safety, Prevention and Coexistence, Albert Batlle, inaugurates the 9th International Nightlife Congress and the 4th Spanish Nightlife Congress, to be held on 27 and 28 November. Both events are being organised by the International Nightlife Association, with international experts taking part. The Commissioner for Coexistence and a representative from the City Police will also be taking part in two round tables.

Coexistence will be of the themes addressed by the congress, specifically in the round table with the City Council’s Commissioner for Coexistence, Montserrat Surroca, taking part. This session has the title “Technological advances and formulas to guarantee coexistence and cohabitation in nightlife”.

For the City Police, the inspector in charge of the del Victim Support Service will be looking at the implementation of measures to prevent sexual violence in the round table “Women in the nightlife industry: an increasingly important and relevant role”.

Another of the main themes for the meeting, which is being held at the Hotel Sofitel Barcelona Skipper in Av. Litoral, is safety in terms of fire prevention at nightlife premises, as a measure to improve the safety of users and staff alike.

Safety is also a central theme for a third round table: “Safety as a priority in the nightlife industry”. One of the speakers is the former head of the New York Nightlife Office, a municipal department in charge of relations with this sector.
