Barcelona City Council brings together the consular corps to address the summer campaign

The Third Deputy Mayor, Laia Bonet, and the Fifth Deputy Mayor, Albert Batlle, met thirty consuls to address safety and security policy for summer 2021. The City Council and the consuls share a commitment to work for social harmony in the city.

Barcelona City Council brought the consular corps together today to address the summer campaign. The Deputy Mayor for 2030 Agenda, Digital Transition, Sports and Territorial and Metropolitan Coordination, Laia Bonet, and the Deputy Mayor for Safety and Prevention, Albert Batlle, held the annual meeting with thirty consuls to address the tourism perspectives opening up this summer with the way the pandemic is evolving and the rhythm of vaccination on a global scale.

Laia Bonet and Albert Batlle shared the measures designed for citizen safety this summer and called on consuls for joint responsibility, to stress the message of the importance of all city visitors complying with health measures and to keep up the commitment to social respect and civic behaviour in the city. The meeting was also used to present the Check Barcelona app, which has been developed to manage visitor flows at different tourist spots and be able to manage tourism sustainably.

Other participants in the working session included the chief of the City Police, Pedro Velázquez, the chief of the Barcelona metropolitan region of the Mossos d’Esquadra police corps, Marta Fernández, the director of Tourism, Events and Creative Industries at Barcelona City Council, Xavier Suñol, and other officials from the different police corps.
