Safety and prevention. The enforcement campaign will be in place around the clock from Monday, 16 October, to Sunday, 22 October.

The goal of this specific campaign is to enforce the correct use and circulation of bicycles, personal mobility vehicles and cycles with more than two wheels.

The campaign will also focus on the obligations of drivers and riders of other types of motor vehicles, along with pedestrians, with regard to cyclists and riders of PMVs.

The week-long campaign will be in place around the clock, from Monday, 16 October, to Sunday, 22 October.

The citywide campaign will prioritise the seafront, paying particular attention to cycles with more that two wheels (with or without assisted pedalling) offering passenger transport services (C1, rickshaw) and operating for profit without a licence.

The campaign will pay attention to any conduct representing hazardous circulation, inappropriate parking and distractions while riding, especially where this poses a risk to pedestrians. Fines will be given for infringements such as not respecting red traffic lights, pedestrian crossings (with or without traffic lights) and the right of pedestrians to circulate safely on pavements.

Inspections will also be carried out a premises and establishments renting out PMVs for profit, as well as checks on the conduct of other drivers and riders which affects those on bicycles or PMVs: parking or waiting in bike lanes, inappropriate overtaking or safety distances etc.

It is worth noting that riders must be at least 16 years old to use a PMV and over 18 to transport passengers, and that riders of these vehicles are not allowed to circulate wearing earphones connected to sound reproducers or to use mobile devices while riding.

The campaign is being planned and coordinated by the Catalan Traffic Service, with local police corps and the Mossos d’Esquadra corps.
