Campaign to combat unauthorised graffiti in public space

Safety and prevention. Checks will be stepped up and action adopted to correct any infringements detected.

The specific goal of this City Police operation is to prevent and intervene, if required, to combat unauthorised graffiti, murals or daubed paint in public space or private space visible from public streets and squares.

The operation seeks to ensure public space is kept in good order and to act against conduct which degrades it, correcting and formally denouncing infringements, particularly in connection with unauthorised graffiti in public space.

The campaign is part of the new City Council joint responsibility plan with members of the public, the goal of which is to reduce anti-social behaviour in city streets and squares and improve harmony and respectful conduct.

The campaign started on Monday, 26 June, and will be in place around the clock every day of the week, paying special attention to the districts of Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc and Gràcia.

Specific spaces exist in the city where people can freely express themselves through art (graffiti, murals etc.) without having to request permission in advance: the series of Open Walls.
