Awareness campaign on noise from mopeds and motorbikes

15/10/2024 - 08:00 h

Safety and prevention. The operation will centre on the districts of Horta-Guinardó and Sarrià - Sant Gervasi.

Barcelona City Council will be conducting this campaign today and on Thursday, in a coordinated operation between the Catalan Ministry for Environmental Assessment and Management and the City Police. The goal is to raise public awareness about the need for respect and good practice in riding and driving to reduce noise pollution.

Barcelona is one of the cities with the most motorcycles and mopeds in Europe, meaning campaigns of this type are important. The goals are to:

  • Raise awareness about the effects that motorcycles and mopeds have for noise pollution in the city.
  • Inform people about the effects of circulating with non-regulation exhaust pipes.
  • Promote suitable riding and optimal vehicle maintenance.

The City Police will be stopping vehicles, identifying their riders and checking documentation for riders and vehicles. After the checks, staff from the Ministry for Environmental Assessment and Management will run noise tests and inform users about the effects that motorcycles and mopes have for noise pollution in the city.
