Safety and prevention. The City Police are taking part in this campaign, which is being conducted in Horta-Guinardó and Sant Andreu.

Barcelona City Council is conducting this campaign in coordination with the Department for Environmental Evaluation and Management and the City Police, raising public awareness on the need to promote respectful behaviour and good practices among riders and reduce noise pollution.

Barcelona is one of the cities with the highest number of motorbikes and mopeds in Europe, making campaigns of this type important. The goals are to:

  • Raise awareness about the effect that motorbikes and mopeds have in terms of noise pollution in the city.
  • Inform people about the circular effect of non-standard exhaust pipes.
  • Promote correct riding and the optimal maintenance of vehicles.

The City Police will be collaborating from today until Friday, stopping vehicles, identifying riders and checking documentation. Once these checks are completed, staff from the Department of Environmental Evaluation and Management will check the noise emitted from vehicles and inform users about the effect that motorbikes and mopeds have in terms of noise pollution in the city.

The campaign is mainly being conducted in areas around car parks and on-street motorbike parking areas, and on this occasion in the districts of Horta-Guinardó and Sant Andreu.
