Safety and prevention. The citywide operation will run from today until Sunday 28 March.

The last campaign of this type ran from 10 to 16 February and led to 1,217 denouncements by the City Police.

The municipal Urban Mobility Plan (PMU) sets out a series of measures designed to favour pedestrians and cyclists, foster the use of public transport and reduce the use of private motor vehicles. The goal is to improve quality of life in the city, road safety and the efficiency of the mobility system as a whole.

Barcelona has a surface public transport network made up of buses, trams and taxis connecting all neighbourhoods and districts, as well as nearby municipalities, safely, efficiently and sustainably.

The goal of the campaign started today is to ensure the correct flow and functioning of public transport in general above ground, particularly buses and taxis. To this end, the campaign will focus on detecting and correcting:

  • Incorrect parking and non-regulatory stops in bus lanes, reserved lanes and public transport stops.
  • Circulation of non-authorised vehicles in reserved lanes (bus and taxi).
