Safety and prevention. The operation will run throughout the week and pay special attention to rickshaws.

Today sees the City Police launch a week-long campaign to control personal mobility vehicles (PMV), the aim being to ensure compliance with the regulations for the circulation of these types of vehicles and cycles with more than two wheels.

Recent years have seen the emergence of new types of mobility such as electric scooters, segways and hoverboards. The proliferation of these vehicles can lead to road safety issues when they interact with other types of users in public streets and squares.

In an effort to control conduct potentially posing safety risks to everybody, the City Police have launched this campaign to directly help cut the number of PMV-related accidents, the number of people injured and the severity of those injuries.

Specifically, the police will be checking the correct use and circulation of PMVs and cycles with more than two wheels, as well as the obligations of drivers and riders of other types of vehicles and pedestrians towards people using PMVs.

Special attention will also be given to type C1 personal mobility vehicles engaging in economic activity in the city, particularly rickshaws operating along seafront and premises renting out PMVs, bicycles and cycles with more than two wheels.
