Safety and prevention. Officers will wear bodycams in their uniforms and can activate them when needed.

This week sees the City Police embark on a process to gradually introduce 150 bodycams. Officers will wear the devices in their uniforms and can activate them during any police action which involves a specific risk to the life or physical integrity of members of the police corps or third parties, or damage to public property.

Recordings can be made in cases of public disorder or where there is a specific danger to people’s safety: risks linked to the use of physical force, intimidation or use of firearms, knives and dangerous objects, and situations arising from public disorder or rowdy crowds.

The introduction of these devices responds to the need for transparency, legal security and guarantees for members of the public and police officers alike.

Officers have received training on the correct use of the devices, particularly in aspects relating to the transfer, storage and custody of the images recorded.
