The City Police and the Fundació Avismón again organised this annual awareness activity to collect products to cover people’s primary needs. The collection was held on 1 December in Placeta de Ramon Torres Casanova, next to Plaça de Sants.
Thirteen members of the corps took part in all, including the Mounted Unit and veterans in period costumes, directing traffic from a small platform as they did years ago.
Children from three schools in the Sants neighbourhood (Maristes, Acadèmia Lloret and Barrufet) attended the event and walked around Plaça de Sants with horses from the City Police Mounted Unit. In the days before the collection, some officers had conducted road safety sessions at these same schools, mainly focusing on the importance of wearing seatbelts.
The Fundació Avismón is a non-profit organisation that promotes social volunteering, support and active ageing for the elderly. Donations can also be made any day of the year at the premises of the organisation, located at C/ Jocs Florals, 59, (district of Sants-Montjuïc).
