The City Police are running a citywide drink-driving and drug-driving enforcement campaign from today until Tuesday next week. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a risk factor for accidents, and preventive checks are one of the most efficient ways of avoiding the circulation of drivers and riders potentially at risk of suffering or causing accidents.
The goal is to reduce road accidents and the number of victims, and more specifically to prevent and detect as many drivers as possible testing positive and adopt the corresponding measures.
The campaign will focus on drivers and riders circulating with alcohol levels above the permitted limit or while under the influence of drugs, as well as those who refuse to take obligatory tests and, in general, any conduct posing safety risks.
Regardless of the teams assigned specifically to this campaign, all patrols on duty in public streets will be stepping up measures to detect infringements relating to this goal.
