Barcelona City Council will be conducting this campaign on Tuesday, 11, and Wednesday, 12 June, the goal being to raise public awareness about the need for respect and good practice in riding and driving, and to reduce noise pollution.
The operation will be limited to the districts of Sant Andreu and Sant Martí, and coordinated between Barcelona City Council, the City Police and the Catalan Ministry for Environmental Assessment and Management.
Barcelona is one of the cities with the most motorcycles and mopeds in Europe, meaning campaigns of this type are important. The goals are to:
- Raise awareness about the effects that motorcycles and mopeds have for noise pollution in the city.
- Inform people about the effects of circulating with non-regulation exhaust pipes.
- Promote suitable riding and optimal vehicle maintenance.
After the checks, staff from the Ministry for Environmental Assessment and Management will run noise tests and inform users about the effects that motorcycles and mopes have for noise pollution in the city.
