Measure for FC Barcelona matches at the Olympic Stadium

08/08/2023 - 08:09 h

Safety and Prevention. The measure will be activated for today, as FC Barcelona is playing its first match at the stadium.

The Guàrdia Urbana are activating the measure to regulate traffic in the facility’s surrounding areas, ensure access in optimum conditions for spectators and prevent anti-social behaviour.

The measure will be activated for today, Tuesday, with the first match playing at the new site.

Other more specific aims are as follows:

  • To facilitate access there for people travelling by public transport, on foot or by bicycle during match days, as well as traffic flows along the streets affected and their surrounding areas.
  • To improve safety from the gender perspective.
  • To minimise any negative impact on local residents and facility users.
  • To prevent unauthorised street trading.

A whole series of measures are to be implemented so the necessary prevention and safety tasks can be carried out:

  • Parking: regulation of areas reserved for accredited vehicles for individuals with reduced mobility and for coaches transporting spectators to matches, and control of those that are not adapted. The parking bans will begin at 8 am on match days and the tow service five hours before the start of matches.
  • Closure to general traffic around the stadium and restriction of unauthorised private vehicles. Access by car to the Olympic Stadium will be restricted three hours before the start of matches.
  • Establishment of a security area around the stadium, and evacuation routes in case of emergency, as well as safe routes.

In addition, the Guàrdia Urbana [city police] will be watching over to prevent any sexual, gender or LGBTI-phobic violence. FC Barcelona has provided for a purple point inside the grounds.

How to access the area on match days?

Given the restrictions, you are advised to access Montjuïc on foot, by public transport or by bicycle. Besides the usual mobility alternatives, there will also be a free shuttle bus service up to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, beginning two hours before matches start and ending an hour and a half after they finish. You will find further information on how to get there from the mobility measure’s website.
