Safety and prevention. Enforcement will focus on infringements such as the failure to respect pedestrian crossings or linked to the ban on circulating on pavements.

Pedestrians are one of the most vulnerable groups when it comes to traffic accidents. In addition, people who get run over can sustain some of the severest injuries. In a bid to cut accidents and the number of victims, the City Police launched a campaign on Monday which will be in place around the clock through to Sunday.

Coordinated by the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT), this prevention campaign is geared towards reducing the risk of people being run over and towards protecting pedestrians. To this end, the campaign will pay special attention to combating infringements by drivers and riders of different types of vehicles, including personal mobility vehicles such as electric scooters.

Enforcement will focus on infringements such as the failure to respect pedestrian crossings, infringements at pedestrian islands and the ban on circulating on pavements. Attention will also be paid to anti-regulatory conduct which hampers circulation or causes harm or unnecessary inconvenience to people on foot in the street.
