Barcelona is getting ready to enjoy the La Mercè Festivities with a range of cultural events for everyone. To ensure that we can all enjoy the festivities safely, the City Council will be setting up ‘Punts Lila’ (Purple Points) at various strategic locations.
There will be a Punt Lila at each of the two large concert spaces: one in C/ Menéndez Pelayo, which will be open on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September from 7.30 pm until 3.30 am, and another on Bogatell Beach on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September. The latter will be open from 7.30 pm to 3.30 am on Friday and Saturday, and until midnight on Sunday.
These Punts Lila will be staffed by professionals who will have three tasks: to raise awareness among the public in general, provide advice on the issue of gender-based violence, and also to offer assistance and referral to specific services in the event of sexual harassment or male aggression. This initiative forms part of the “Barcelona Antimasclista” package of measures, which is coordinated in conjunction with the police and health service.
Punt Lila at L’Associa’t
The “Associa’t” Festival will be back for La Mercè. This year it will be held at Parc de la Ciutadella and on Avda. Catedral, with the aim of continuing to integrate the festival as much as possible into the Mercè programme, and to strengthen alliances with the ICUB and other City Council departments.
At the same time, this year the focus will be on associations for children and young people, women, people belonging to the LGBTI community, and/or people with disabilities, as established by the recent Associations Promotion Act.
Punts Lila will be set up in Parc de la Ciutadella, in collaboration with the Platform Against Gender Violence and the Espai 210 facility. These points will be open on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, from 11 am to 8 pm.
There will also be a Punt Lila on Bogatell Beach that will be open from 12 noon until 6 pm every day of the week until 27 October, and another will be set up for the America’s Cup.
