The graduation ceremony for the 96th intake of officers for the City Police was held this morning at the headquarters of the Institute for Public Security of Catalonia (ISPC), in Mollet del Vallès (Vallès Oriental).
The new officers (nineteen of whom are already operative) will now start practical placements at different police stations operated by the Barcelona corps, alongside more experienced officers. Once they have completed a year’s service they will be named as officers of Barcelona City Police and as professional public-sector workers. Another ceremony will shortly be held to welcome the new intake and give them their badges.
This increase in the number of officers is aimed at improving service for the public, as these officers will carry out local work in the streets and strengthen contact and support for citizens.
In this respect, a balance of the first months of the Pla Endreça was presented last week. The plan includes an additional hundred City Police officers, which has led to an increase in fines for anti-social behaviour.
