Safety and prevention. Operation 0.25 will be in place around the clock from 16 to 22 February.

Better road safety in the city is a priority for the City Police, making it essential to work towards the prevention of accidents through a safer mobility model and training and public awareness on compliance with basic traffic regulations.

In an effort to combat conduct which generates risks, the City Police is launching a citywide breathalyser and drug-driving campaign, which will be in place from 16 to 22 February and which forms part of Barcelona City Council’s Local Road Safety Plan.

The campaign will address infringements linked with drink-driving and drug-driving, as well as any other type of conducts which leads to road safety risks.

The campaign will also see breathalyser and drug-driving tests for riders of bikes and mopeds, a particularly vulnerable group which have seen the number of accidents affecting them go up in recent years.

Drink-driving and drug-driving represent risk factors in terms of accidents and prevention campaigns are one of the most efficient ways of avoiding the circulation of drivers posing an accident risk.

Road accident victims can be avoided and we must become more aware so that drivers and pedestrians get increasingly involved in achieving the goal of halving serious injuries and deaths, as indicated in the Road Safety Strategy 2030, with a view to reaching zero deaths by 2050.
