The City Police are launching a one-week enforcement campaign today, targeting cyclists and personal mobility vehicles (PMV) to ensure riders comply with regulations and road safety.
The campaign will focus on any conduct by cyclists that generates road safety risks, or by users of other vehicles that generate risks for cyclists. For example:
- Parking in bike lanes.
- Inappropriate overtaking.
- Not respecting safety distances.
As for PMVs, as vehicles the campaign will focus on conduct such as:
- Inappropriate parking.
- Distractions while driving or riding (looking at mobile phones or using headphones).
- Circulating on pavements.
- Not respecting traffic signs: traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
- Infringements that put pedestrians in danger.
The City Police are working to achieve the goal of halving deaths and serious injuries, as set out in the Road Safety Strategy 2030, with a view to achieving zero victims by 2050.
