The City Police took part in a joint operation with the Mossos d’Esquadra, Policia Nacional and Guardia Civil corps, involving over a hundred officers.
The operation started at 6 am on Wednesday, with 11 raids in various locations in Catalonia and Madrid resulting 18 arrests. The operation was headed by Barcelona’s investigating court number 23 and the provincial prosecutor specialising in the environment, following months of investigation, thanks to which the operation was able to gather evidence for dismantling the organised crime network.
The network, mainly operating in Catalonia and Madrid, is being held responsible for various ongoing offences of animal mistreatment, fraud, falsification of documents, professional intrusion and money laundering. The organisation had been active for more than eight years.
